Insomnia
Four or five years ago, I suffered from horrible insomnia. I went for nearly a year getting only a couple hours of sleep a night, with maybe one full night's sleep per month.
It mostly went away, though I still have nights where I toss and turn; I think a few of these every so often is perfectly normal.
But for the last month or so it's been back. I'll sleep, have heavy involved dreams, and wake up thinking I've slept eight hours, look at the time, and find that it's 11:30pm. I toss and turn, trying to get back to sleep, slip back into dreamworld, and wake up at 2:00am. I'm usually sweating in my sleep. Lather, rinse, repeat. I can't sleep through the night, and a lot of my horizontal time is spent trying to get back to sleep after my body wakes up thinking it must be morning. By the time morning comes, I'm exhausted, and my best sleep comes in the hour or 30 minutes before the alarm goes off.
And it's affecting me. I'm getting cranky and irritable like a kid who needs a nap. I've cut caffeine out but I think I'll have some today just because I seriously need to be alert at work.
UGH.
By the time morning actually does come, I'm exhausted
